Hot Trend – Barre Fitness
I took a barre fitness class the other day, and it was NO JOKE. My quads and glutes were ON FIRE – in a good way, of course.
If you’re not familiar with barre fitness, it is an exercise program which utilizes the ballet barre and basic ballet movements to deliver an intense full-body workout, which builds muscular endurance and balance. Classes may also utilize the floor, a pilates ball, and light dumbbells. It’s a great option for anyone intimidated by standard strength training workouts, or as a cross-training option for anyone.
Don’t worry if you don’t have a background in ballet, or dance, or any experience at all. This is a great program for beginners and beyond. Barre movements are small and controlled, and core engagement is a constant. Modifications can be made for all levels, and some really great stretching is also included to help loosen up those burning, tired muscles.
A barre class is a great way to get a head-to-toe workout and I highly recommend you try one, asap. If you currently strength train, a barre class would be a great complement to that routine. If you’re new to exercise, start with two classes per week, spread out a couple of days apart.
Our new barre program has an amazing, fun instructor who plays music that keeps you going and she never lets you get bored.
