Mary Jo Fisher
Fitness By Design Assistant Manager, BS Exercise Science, ACSM CPT
Growing up, I was a very active individual. I spent years doing dance, tumbling, cheerleading and eventually got into rugby. For me, playing rugby is what introduced me to the love of fitness. I played my senior year in high school, and started the team at Lasell College to share my love of the game with other young women. I would spend hours in the gym preparing for matches and building my strength and endurance to become a better athlete.
After a year of college as an undecided student, I declared Exercise Science as my major with the hopes to graduate in just three years: something that has never been done before. While running a rugby club, taking 7+ classes a semester, working two jobs and being a Resident Assistant, I managed to fall in love with the program.
For me, learning the way our bodies move, how to modify exercises for special populations, and completing over 450 hours of Personal Training internships solidified for me that I was in the right field.
My hobbies include baking, exercising regularly, and befriending animals. Goals for my future include running the Boston Marathon, obtaining a Master’s Degree, owning a farm, and helping others to fall in love with working out and the benefits that come along with it.
As a recent graduate, I am incredibly excited to begin working in the fitness industry at Fitness by Design. I hope to continue to learn every day about nutrition, exercise science, and how small steps can lead to a huge transformation.
